Welcome to the Mara Rhino Project
At the heart of the Maasai Mara, the Mara Rhino Project (MRP) is committed to safeguarding one
of the planet’s most endangered species: the Southern white rhino. With only two of these majestic
animals remaining in the ecosystem, housed in the Olchoro Oirouwa Conservancy, our mission is urgent
and essential. Through innovative conservation efforts and deep community involvement, we aim to
restore and expand the rhino population while ensuring sustainable coexistence between wildlife
and local communities.
Our Vision
MRP strives to reverse the decline of rhino populations by focusing on habitat restoration,
anti-poaching initiatives, and breeding programs. With plans to introduce additional rhinos
and reach a goal of 20 within five years, we are building a sustainable future for wildlife in the Maasai Mara.
Supported by cutting-edge technology, dedicated rangers, and partnerships with leading organizations,
we ensure long-term success.
A Community-Centered Approach
Conservation is not just about protecting animals—it’s about empowering people. MRP actively engages
with local communities by creating employment opportunities, especially for youth and women, and offering
educational outreach programs. With initiatives like the 'Educate a Kid' scholarship and
'Bees Beyond Boundaries,' we integrate conservation with social development, proving that saving
wildlife also means supporting those who live closest to it.
Join us in making a difference. Whether by adopting a rhino, volunteering on-site, or donating to support
our rangers and infrastructure development, every contribution counts. Together, we can save the wild to
serve the world.
